What is a Computer Room Air Handler (CRAH) Unit?

A CRAH unit (Computer Room Air Handler) is an advanced air handling device specifically designed for crah data center environments. Unlike traditional CRAC (Computer Room Air Conditioning) systems that rely on mechanical refrigeration, crah units use a cooling coil supplied with chilled water from a chilled water plant to cool and dehumidify the air within the data center. Up flow supply: Suitable for electrical rooms, IT rooms, etc.; air is drawn from the lower front, conditioned upwards through the cooling coil, and supplied from the top.

Frontal flow supply: Hot air enters through the lower front, is conditioned and released through the upper front—common in electrical switch and UPS rooms.

Under floor supply: The unit is installed beneath a raised floor, intaking hot air from the top, cooling it through the coil, and delivering conditioned air directly to the front of the racks via floor grilles—widely used in mainstream crah units data center applications.
