Taipei Arena Ice Land – Semi-Hermetic Screw Glycol Chiller Project

Jul.29.2026

Project Overview

Taipei Arena Ice Land is the largest and only Olympic-standard ice skating rink in Taiwan, measuring 61 m × 30 m with capacity for 400 skaters. Approved by the International Skating Union and Asian Skating Union, the arena demanded the highest engineering standards for its ice-rink refrigeration system — and selected Holtop for the water-chilling solution.

The Chiller Solution

Holtop supplied semi-hermetic screw glycol chillers with a total cooling capacity of 1,400 kW (398 tons), running on R-507A refrigerant and delivering an outlet medium temperature of -17°C. Working with the project's electrical and plumbing contractors, Holtop selected chillers built for cooling ethylene-glycol solution to low temperature using high-efficiency compressors and heat exchangers.

High-Performance Refrigeration Engineering

With independent R&D compressors and an added economizer system, cooling capacity increased 19.4%, reaching 350 kW per chiller. The result: a high-efficiency, stable, easy-to-maintain and compact refrigeration solution meeting international standards for a world-class skating rink.
